Attach one end of the vacuum hose to the vacuum head. Hold the pole in your hand and lower the vacuum head into the pool, along with the hose. Make sure the other end of the hose is outside the pool. Locate the filter skimmer where the water enters the pool on the wall of the pool. Plug the other end of the hose into the water intake nozzle. This will send water through the hose.
You'll see air bubbles rising from the vacuum head. I have an Intex pool.
If you don't backwash, your filter will slowly start to get clogged, causing too much pressure to build up while it's running. Let's continue now and learn how to use a pool vacuum. Does the swivel end of the vacuum hose go in the skimmer or on the vacuum head? Make sure the other end of the hose is outside the pool. Hold the pole in your hand and lower the vacuum head into the pool, along with the hose. You should notice the hose sink into the pool and the vacuum head rest at the bottom of the pool. Did you try these steps?
If you're not familiar with Intex, they have hoses and components that are pretty much only compatible with Intex products. This connector allows me to attach my vacuum hose onto the adapter that connects Intex skimmer hoses to the outlet that goes to the filter. I bought more than one of these and also use one to connect two male ends of hose together.
The connector is made of thin enough plastic that I was able to cleanly trim it to my desired size with a utility knife, but is still study enough that I do not worry about it distorting or collapsing when used during vacuuming. This does not provide an airtight seal when used to connect two male hoses by just jamming it in the ends. I'm sure a clamp or bit of tape would remedy this if it's a concern for If you want to attach a vacuum hose to your Intex ultra frame pool, this is the adapter you need.
To attach it to your pool you unscrew the large strainer grid at the pump outlet and screw this strainer hose adapter in its place. You attach the vacuum hose to the other end of the adapter. At first I couldn't get my vacuum hose to attach because it is the exact same diameter as the hose adapter 1. The only problem you may run into is that there is yet another strainer a small one on the strainer connector that this hose adapter screws onto, so when you're vacuuming, some of the larger pieces of debris get caught in the little holes and clog it up to the point that you lose suction. Have I done any damage by vacuuming the pool with the filter in the rinse mode? Assuming you are doing this with a sand filter, you have done no damage. Sand filters are forgiving; however, your method is causing you more work because after vacing in the Rinse mode, you will then need to Backwash, causing even more water loss.
You want to vac on the Waste setting. Not Helpful 6 Helpful Does the swivel end of the vacuum hose go in the skimmer or on the vacuum head? It will allow air to be sucked in if it's out of the water. Not Helpful 2 Helpful 8.
The pool vacuum will best work if the hose is filled with water minimal to no air. The best way is to put the hose in the water, take the vacuum end, put it up to the pool "jet" output of water flow. This will fill the hose with water. Leave the hose in the water, place the vacuum head to the end of the hose, and then connect to the filter suction end.
You should notice the hose sink into the pool and the vacuum head rest at the bottom of the pool.
Then you can turn on the vacuum setting on the control and it should start moving the vacuum head. Not Helpful 1 Helpful 5.
When I vacuum my pool, everything comes back out of the filter. What am I doing wrong?
Possibly, you are attempting to vacuum on the wrong setting. Vacuuming should be done on the Filter setting, and remember to prime the vacuum hose before attempting to vacuum.
Not Helpful 7 Helpful With a sand pump for an above-ground pool, when hooking up the hoses to vacuum the pool, do I put it on backwash to vacuum, or on the filter setting? Use the filter setting, or you can vacuum to waste, which means the water is discharged out instead of returning to the pool. Using the filter setting will save water, but you have to backwash the filter when you are done. Vacuum to waste when you have a lot of debris in the pool that you don't want going into your filter. What happens if you forget to switch from backwash mode back to filter mode and the pump is set to auto run?
The water will be pumped out of your pool very quickly when the pump comes on!
